Wall Drills – Your Best Training Partner


If you have access to a solid wall, you have a practice partner 24/7.


Continuous Volley Drill

  • Stand 8–10 feet from the wall.

  • Hit forehand volleys repeatedly, keeping the ball waist-high.

  • Focus on rhythm and quick recovery.


Dink Control Drill

  • Move closer and dink softly, letting the ball bounce once between shots.

  • Try hitting 20 dinks in a row without missing.

  • Practice switching forehand ↔ backhand for better control.

Serve and Target Practice

A quiet court is perfect for serve precision.

  • Place targets (chalk circles, cones) in different service boxes.

  • Serve 50 balls, alternating forehand/backhand.

  • After each footwork drill, “shadow play” a rally — mimic volleys and dinks with no ball to build muscle memory.

This trains your body to stay light and responsive during real games.


Reflex & Reaction Training

Solo time is great for improving reaction speed:

  • Bounce a ball against a wall at random angles and try to react as fast as possible.

  • Use two balls: toss one up while dribbling the other with your paddle — trains split focus.

Strength & Conditioning


A complete player isn’t just skilled — they’re physically resilient.

  • Do 3 sets of squats, lunges, and push-ups after drills.

  • Add resistance band shoulder exercises to prevent injuries.

  • Practice core planks for stability — crucial for balance during dinks.
